Why This Trek
Torna Fort
Torna is a fort with a story - it's the first one a young Shivaji took, and the climb still feels like it's testing you for it. The steepest stretch near the top, close to Bini Darwaja, is loose and exposed enough to keep you honest, and the payoff is a rampart walk with three other forts visible in the distance.
Before You Book
- Forest access may require a valid permit.
- Authorised guide support may be mandatory.
- Departure depends on current route availability.
- Weather and wildlife conditions may affect access.
- Route and timings can change for safety reasons.
- Camping is only offered where currently permitted.
- Government ID may be required for permit registration.
- Final confirmation is issued only after operational verification.
The Trail
From Velhe village the trail climbs steadily through scrub and rock, with the final approach to Bini Darwaja involving steep, sometimes loose rock steps that get considerably harder when wet. By standing district order, visitors are required to vacate the fort by 5pm and overnight stays on the fort itself are not permitted.
- Pune district's highest hill fort at 1,403m
- Bini Darwaja, the fortified main gate, and long stretches of surviving rampart
- Views across to Rajgad, Raigad, and Sinhagad forts on a clear day
