Why This Trek
Narasimha Parvatha
Narasimha Parvatha doesn't belong in the same conversation as the short sunrise hillocks around Bangalore - it's a real two-day Western Ghats crossing, through rainforest thick enough that the canopy closes over the trail in places, past a waterfall worth stopping at on its own. Camping on the summit is genuinely permitted here, which isn't true of most of the routes nearby, so the overnight is part of the trek rather than a workaround. It rewards people who want more than a few hours of climbing.
Before You Book
- Forest access may require a valid permit.
- Authorised guide support may be mandatory.
- Departure depends on current route availability.
- Weather and wildlife conditions may affect access.
- Route and timings can change for safety reasons.
- Camping is only offered where currently permitted.
- Government ID may be required for permit registration.
- Final confirmation is issued only after operational verification.
The Trail
From Malandur, the trail climbs through dense rainforest, crossing streams and passing Barkana Falls before breaking into more open ridge terrain on the approach to the summit. Camping is permitted only in the designated zone on the summit itself - nowhere else on the route - where the group spends the night before descending the next day by a different trail into Kigga, near Sringeri. Forest access, route availability and permits are governed by the Karnataka Forest Department's Aranya Vihaara system, and the route is typically only open for a narrow window each year, roughly October to January - always confirm current status before planning a date.
- A genuine two-village crossing - starting at Malandur and finishing at Kigga, not an out-and-back
- Barkana Falls and the stream below it, the trail's last dependable water source
- One of the few routes in our Karnataka catalog where an overnight camp on the summit is actually permitted
- Wide views over Someshwara Wildlife Sanctuary, where it meets the edge of Kudremukh National Park

Permits
Narasimha Parvatha sits across Someshwara Wildlife Sanctuary and the edge of Kudremukh National Park, and is only accessible through slot-based Karnataka Forest Department permits issued via the Aranya Vihaara portal, with a certified guide mandatory. The route is typically open only for a narrow window each year, roughly October to January, and access can close outside it - always confirm current status before booking.
Cancellation Policy
A ₹1,000 Booking Advance secures your booking request. Final confirmation is issued only after operational and permit verification. The advance is non-refundable and non-transferable, as it blocks your spot in the group.
If we cancel a trek due to weather, safety, or forest department restrictions, you get a full refund or a free reschedule.
Notes
This is a genuine two-day crossing with different start and end villages, not an out-and-back - group logistics need a return vehicle arranged at Kigga, which is different from the single-day, same-base format of the other Karnataka hillock treks in this catalog. Camping is a real, permitted part of this route, unlike most nearby treks where it's explicitly banned.
Sustainability
Camping is confined to a single designated zone on the summit specifically to keep the rest of this rainforest route undisturbed.
