Why This Trek

Kodachadri

Few summits in the Ghats give you open grass underfoot at over 1,300 metres with the coast somewhere out on the haze line. On a clear morning the sightline runs a long way past the nearer ridges. Camping on the plateau isn't currently permitted, so the day is built entirely around that one stretch at the top - climb, take it in, head back down before dark.

Before You Book

  • Forest access may require a valid permit.
  • Authorised guide support may be mandatory.
  • Departure depends on current route availability.
  • Weather and wildlife conditions may affect access.
  • Route and timings can change for safety reasons.
  • Camping is only offered where currently permitted.
  • Government ID may be required for permit registration.
  • Final confirmation is issued only after operational verification.

The Trail

The trail climbs through shaded Western Ghats forest, passing Hidlumane falls before opening onto the grassy plateau near Sarvajna Peeth close to the summit. Total distance runs close to 12 km on the standard route, though the exact figure shifts depending on which Forest Department-approved path is in use at the time. Route access and permits are issued through the department's current booking system and can change with the season.

  • Hidlumane falls along the forest approach
  • The open plateau at Sarvajna Peeth, near the summit
  • Long sightlines across Ghats ridgelines toward the coast

Permits

Forest access and route availability are subject to current regulations - always confirm before booking.

Cancellation Policy

A ₹1,000 Booking Advance secures your booking request. Final confirmation is issued only after operational and permit verification. The advance is non-refundable and non-transferable, as it blocks your spot in the group.

If we cancel a trek due to weather, safety, or forest department restrictions, you get a full refund or a free reschedule.

Notes

Guide/access requirements are subject to current regulations. Overnight camping on the summit plateau has not been permitted since a Forest Department restriction introduced in 2015; no dated public notice found reversing this, so the same-day-only status stands.

Sustainability

We stick to marked trail sections on the plateau to avoid repeated soil compaction on the grass.
