Why This Trek
Kalsubai
Kalsubai isn't a long trek by distance, but it asks for a full night instead of a lazy morning - you climb by torchlight so the summit temple is exactly where you want to be when the sky turns. The ladder sections keep it honest for a peak that's otherwise a steady, well-worn climb, and being the highest point in the state gives the view a scale you don't get on the surrounding forts.

The Trail
From Bari village the trail climbs in stages through forest and open rock, crossing four to five iron ladder sections bolted into the steeper faces before the final approach to the summit temple. The peak sits inside the Kalsubai-Harishchandragad Wildlife Sanctuary, so route access and any local entry formalities are subject to current forest department rules.
- The highest point in Maharashtra at 1,646m
- A handful of iron ladders and exposed rock-step sections near the top
- Sunrise over the Sahyadri ranges from the Kalsubai Devi temple

The summit plateau and temple site see heavy footfall on weekends - we keep group sizes capped and carry out everything we carry in.
