Dudhsagar earns its reputation honestly - few waterfalls in India combine this much height, volume, and setting. When we run it, the appeal is the forest approach itself as much as the falls: a walk through Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary that has nothing to do with the jeep convoys or the railway tracks tourists are (rightly) banned from. The tourist circuit is currently closed for the season; see the notice below before planning around this trek.

Access to Dudhsagar comes in three distinct forms, and we treat them as separate things rather than interchangeable routes. The Goa Forest Department's jeep safari tourist circuit is the most-used option and the one currently closed. The Castle Rock-Kulem railway line offers a view of the falls from a moving train, but walking the tracks is illegal and actively enforced by the Railway Protection Force - we will never route participants along the railway, under any circumstances. The third option, and the one a forest trek actually uses, is on-foot approach through the sanctuary on the Karnataka side near Castle Rock. We will publish a detailed day plan once we've independently verified which approach is currently permitted and confirmed operating conditions on the ground.

Forest checkpoint registration is required for the sanctuary approach, and the Goa Forest Department's jeep safari tourist circuit is separately permitted and currently closed for the monsoon season. We will confirm both before publishing dates.

Re-verified 2026-08-26: found no evidence of reopening. What's confirmed - the Goa Forest Department closes the Dudhsagar jeep safari tourist circuit annually for the monsoon (typically mid-June through early October, due to rising water levels and unsafe forest-road conditions), and Indian Railways separately and permanently bans foot traffic on the Castle Rock-Kulem railway tracks, enforced by the Railway Protection Force. Multiple 2026 travel-press sources (Nativeplanet, MyGoa365, Stayvista) describe the circuit as still closed as of July-August 2026 with an expected reopening 'around early-to-mid October 2026' - but none of these are official government sources, and I could not reach forest.goa.gov.in directly to confirm an official notice (DNS blocked in this environment). I found no dated 2026 reopening announcement from the Forest Department.
