Why We Started Walking Slowly
SO[u]LE MATES Team · 28 January 2026 · 4 min read
We didn't start this because we wanted to summit more peaks. We started it because most trekking felt like it was racing past the parts worth stopping for.
The Western Ghats reward slowness - the mist that only shows up if you're still, the sound of a stream you'd otherwise walk straight past. Somewhere along the way, "getting to the top" became less interesting to us than everything alongside the trail.
That's most of what SO[u]LE MATES is, really: an excuse to walk somewhere beautiful, slowly, with people who won't rush you.
